2018 Distinguished Alumni Award

Each year GSEF honors one or more graduates from Greensburg Salem High School (Greensburg High School) for their dedication to public service and their community, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, for being a role model for youth.

This April join us as we celebrate the newest recipient of the Greensburg Salem Distinguished Alumni Award.

  • Ray Charley, Class of 1969, President Shop ‘n Save-Thomi Company

The Distinguished Alumni Banquet will be held on April 13. Please join us to celebrate this alumnus who has dedicated himself to the youth of our community!

Reservations are required. Click here for the reservation form.

In 2016, three very special GS graduates were honored (l-r) Paul Murphy (’64), Howard “Huddie” Kaufman (’46) and Dr. Jack Smith (’65) who were joined here by Huddie’s son Jeff (far right).

Anita Cremonese Leonard (’61) and the Honorable John j. Driscoll (’59) shared the Distinguished Alumni honors in 2015.
Perhaps no Greensburg (Salem) graduate embodies the description of a Distinguished Alumni more than the first honoree — Chief Eddie Hutchinson, GHS Class of 1939. He is pictured here with keynote speaker Brigadier General Dave Papak, US Marine Corps (Retired) and Master of Ceremonies, David Zilli.

L-R: Mrs Valeria Pantalone Nava, Nicholas Slider, Deanna Holby

This year the Nava family was able to support two scholarships to well-deserving students. Deanna Holby was awarded $1,000 and Nicholas Slider received $500. To qualify, these students submitted an essay addressing the quote found on the mural in the Greensburg Salem Middle School lobby – “Sow ye in the Springtime of life that there may be a harvest abundant.” A former principal in the building, Mr. Nava was inspired by these words and they guided him in both this professional and personal life.
